NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil VS Jordana 12 Hour Made to Last Eyeshadow Pencil

So I have been sitting on this post for a while, and I'm sorry to say, but there are SO many posts that have been hiding in my computer... They're hidden in folders, inside of folders, inside of folders, so I'm going to do my best to bring them to the light.

I have been trying out more jumbo eye pencils, because I really like the versatility they provide, plus they can really pump up an otherwise dull/boring eye look. I have duplicates in colours, but I wanted to really compare the colours and the formulas, to see which is the better buy.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils have been around for a long time. They're easy to apply, easy to blend out, and are easy enough to come by. They are $4.50 a piece, and you get 0.18 oz of product per pencil, plus you have SO many colours to choose from! Though, you DO have to set these with an eyeshadow, and even then, they might crease on you (if you have oily lids make sure you wear a primer!)

Jordana 12 Hour Made to Last Eyeshadow Pencils come in a far more limited selection (8, to be exact). They are also easy to apply, to blend out, and are easy to come by (my favourite choices to shop for these products are Walgreens and KMart!). They have the added benefit of staying for the entire day, as once they set, they are SET.  They are $4 a piece, and you get 0.10 oz of product. So, you get .08 oz less than the competitor.

Black  Bean VS Stay-On-Black

Black Bean was really hard to get even close to opaque. I kept applying, and applying... and applying, and I didn't get much payoff for my efforts.

Stay-On-Black applied really well, and with a few strokes I managed to get it fully opaque.

 I applied my dark green eyeshadow from Forever 21, since it's a colour that doesn't have good colour payoff on it's own. I applied it both over Black Bean and Stay-On-Black.

The real winner in this sceanario, is Stay-On-Black, hands down. It's cheaper, it doesn't budge, it's more opaque, and it brings out the colour of cheap eyeshadows more than Black Bean.

Milk VS Eternal White

These were a bit more evenly matched.

Milk was very creamy, and applied well. Though I have to worry about creasing with this product, the white was opaque and applied well. This blends out nicely, and creates a nice base for your shadow.

Eternal White has a drier formula, and though it lasts longer, I have to put more effort into applying it. It blends out nicely, and I do not have to worry about creasing with this product.

For layering, I used a light pink shade in one of my ELF eyeshadow books. The pink on it's own isn't much, but layered over white you really get more out of it.

Milk, since it's a creamier formula, really picks up the powder, helping it to adhere.

Eternal White is a little harder to work with, but you an end up with the same look, it just takes more effort.

I give this a tie, because they both have pros, and they both have cons, and it's really up to you which one is worth your time/money/effort over the other.

Really, at the end of it, why not try both? See what really works for you. I prefer the Jordana pencils, but they have nothing on the colour selection that NYX offers. If you like plain neutrals, or you just want to try it out, spring for Jordana, and they also offer blue, frosty pink, violet and green glitters. 

If you want a broader colour selection, and you want to go crazy trying some different colours, then go for the NYX. There's only a 50 cent difference, so you're not saving too much or splurging too much no matter what you pick. :)

Jordana Twist and Shine - Honey Love

Hello again readers!

I've been really intrigued with these Twist and Shine Moisturizing Balm Stains from Jordana, and Rock N Rouge kicked Candid Coral out of the water! I've been wanting to try another one (or maybe two!), and I didn't know where to start. I was watching one of Leighann's videos, and she mentioned how much she was loving Honey Love. I went out to try it since I wanted another one to try.

I tried it on and was pretty pleased with it. I loved the swatch, and swatching it on my lips was great. To me, it's not a nude at all, especially with my skin tone. On me, it's like a darker version of a nude lip, and it's right up my alley! It's perfect for winter, since it moisturizes along with giving me lasting colour.

It's cheap, smooth, pigmented, and lasts for a long while. What's not to love? I'm now eyeing Cranberry Crush and Terra Crave, the other shades are too bright for my liking. Even worse, Candid Coral was too bright for me too, and even with the stain I wasn't wowed. I'm sticking to the darker shades for t his collection.

New from Jordana: Twist & Shine, 12 HR Made to Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencil, and Best Volume Extreme Mascara

I was going to make these individual posts, but I decided to just squish them into one! 

We're aware that Jorana has recently launched a bunch of new products for their line, and there are some wonderful gems! I'm so pleased that drugstore makeup has come a long way, that we can get good quality products for a good price.

Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain:

The Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stains in Rock N' Rouge and Candied Coral, were so much better than I expected. I'm not that huge on wearing lip products (even though I have so many...), and these do so much in such a little product! They're very creamy, and pigmented, gliding on the lips with ease and leaving behind a nice pop of color and shine. They're not drying, I'd even go as far as to say they are moisturizing too.

You can blot them, or let them wear off, leaving a flush of colour behind. The shine lasts for a decent amount of time (about an hour or so) and the stain lasts for another couple of hours. It does however fade a bit in the middle, but another swipe of the product will remedy that. 

Another thing I like about this product, is that you don't have to sharpen it. You just twist it up when you need more product, so it's very efficient. 

For $2.99 each, they're absolutely wonderful, and recommended.

12 HR Made to Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencil:

The pencil I got is Black Point. This product is so creamy! The swatch is just one, light-handed swatch on my arm. 

It goes on easy, applies like a dream, and is super pigmented.

Like other Liquid Eyeliner Pencils, it's /very/ soft, so i always make sure I use a very light hand for when I apply them, so I don't accidentally break the tip off.

Another thing, is that they glide on so smoothly, that it's incredibly possible to accidentally slip and draw eyeliner up to your brow! (I have done it)

Aside from the drawbacks, once this pencil sets, it's there to stay. I wouldn't say it lasts the full 12 hours, but it's close, and there is only a slight bit of fading/smearing by the end of the day.

Each pencil is $2.49, and it comes in a variety of other colours. I recommend this to anyone looking for a good eyeliner pencil.

Jordana Best Volume Extreme Mascara:

I picked up this mascara because I wanted to try one of the new ones out (there is another new one that I haven't purchased  yet), and I was drawn to the green cap, instead of the pink. My first impression, is that the wand is /huge/. It's really inconvinient for applying the mascara, and I have to apply it very slowly too...

Another thing, is the formula. The formula of this mascara is very wet, and gets everywhere! I'll apply it, and end up with mascara all over my eyelid! Not attractive.

On the plus, this product is only worth about three dollars, so it's price efficient.

I'm going to hold on to it, and maybe in a month or so the formula will dry up a bit and it'll be better to use, but for now, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone really. Unless you love wet formulas and giant wands...

Jordana 12 HR Made to Last Eyeshadow Pencil - Stay-On Black and Endless Emerald

I've been wanting to show you these, and I'm sorry I took so long, but here we go!

Jordana recently launched a new line of long-wear eye products, including new Eyeshadow Pencils. They're a lot like how NYX's pencils are... but better!

Stay-On Black - A rich, matte black. This one is a lot like NYX's Black Bean, but way more pigmented, sets better, and doesn't smudge like the NYX eyeshadow pencil does.

Endless Emerald- a gorgeous emerald green. This was only a slight disappointment when I opened it, because there is little shimmer bits in the product, but luckily it's not overwhelming or too distracting either. The glitter doesn't fall all over my cheeks, either. :)

  

One swipe, and they show dramatic colour payoff. They're very creamy and pigmented, and they're easy to blend out if you choose to. Work fast however, they do set rather quickly (a bonus for me!)

Another thing to mention, is they do need a really good eye makeup remover to remove completely. This is after rubbing at my arm with a makeup removing cloth, and they still stayed! I was impressed.

Pros:

-Long lasting, not exactly twelve hours, but will definitely get you through your school/work day or a night out.

-Pigmented! Insanely pigmented

-Can be used as bases for other eyeshadows 

- Cheap! They're regularly 4 dollars each, but you can get them on sale for 2 for 6.

Cons:

-They need to be sharpened

- There's only 8 colors offered, so not a very wide range to choose from

-Be careful after applying, and don't forget to set them, or they may crease on you

Overall: 5/5 

I am so tempted to just go out and buy the rest, but I'll be strong. If I wait until the next BOGO I can get them cheaper. I love these, and am really excited to create new looks with them.

Jordana Retractable Eye Pencils

Hello again readers~

Another quick swatch (only one left! Yes! :D), this time, of Jordana Retractable Eye Pencils. 

 

They come in a variety of colors, but the only colors that I own are black and blue.

I have been using the black retractable eye pencil for years, and it does smudge if you rub at it! It's not the most durable of pencils, and the blue is even worse, smearing all over the place. It's cheap though, at only 2 dollars a pop, but isn't the best of pencils. 

I use it as a guide for cat-eyes and I used to use it to line my waterline. Great for making quick smudge-looks though for the days I'm either in a big hurry, or just incredibly lazy.

Incolor Fabuliner, CoverGirl Line Exact, and E.L.F. Waterproof Eyeliner Pen Review

Hello again readers!

This is the order on which I swatched them on my hand (one swatch with just the tip, and one with the side so for a total of 8 lines): E.L.F Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Black, Incolor FabuLiner in Black, Incolor FabuLiner in Brown, and Cover Girl Line Exact in Black.

This was what they looked like this morning. It seems that the CoverGirl has the deepest color for black. Swiped the color on the side swatches in two coats.

This is what they looked like after 8 hours. Of course, my hand isn't very oily, so if you have really oily skin it might look a bit different.

And this is what happened with two hard swipes of the makeup remover. E.L.F. Waterproof Eyeliner Pen, wins in staying power for black, and the Incolor FabuLiner in Brown is still pretty rich in color! I was really impressed!

E.L.F. Waterproof Eyeliner Pen:

Staying Power: 5/5 Still really nice dark color after all that abuse!

Color: 4/5 Dark (though it could take more than one stroke to get it even all over)

Price: 5/5! It's just a dollar!

Would buy again?: Yes, I don't care if it dries up quickly, the price is good, and so is the formula! It's worth the dollar!

Incolor FabuLiner in Black Eyeliner Pen

Staying Power: 4/5. It stayed well, but did fade a bit.

Color: 3/5. A little watery, will need two strokes to get a bold color.

Price: 5/5 Just two dollars!

Would buy again?: I think I'll buy E.L.F. instead.

Incolor FabuLiner in Brown Eyeliner Pen

Staying Power: 5/5 Rich color, even after the long hours and the makeup remover. Doesn't budge too easily.

Color: 5/5 I love the color! Not a brown-black, but not a super light brown either.

Price: 5/5 Just two dollars!

Would buy again?: YES!

CoverGirl Line Exact Eyeliner Pen

Staying Power: 2/5 Doesn't really stay that well (though it likes to disagree with my photos, I've used this many times before, and know differently).

Color: 1/5 Definitely needs more than one stroke to get it dark.

Price: 1/5 It was about 7 dollars, for this formula that's not really that good.

Would buy again?: No. Too expensive compared to the others I prefer, and the formula is lacking compared to the others as well.
