Funky Fingers - Mood Ring

Hello again readers~

Funky Fingers - Mood Ring

I bought this polish, because in the bottle it looked blue with gold shimmer. It's a duochrome polish where it's blue, and then it flashes to a pale yellow green.

It takes three or four coats to be opaque, but the colour pay off is worth it.

I loved it in the bottle, but hated it on my nails. It washed me out too much, and on other occasions made me look like my hands were red. It didn't suit me at all unfortunately because it's a gorgeous polish.

A bit of an awful quality photo to show off the shimmer.

Cherry Bomb - Wet n Wild Swatches

Hello again readers~

Wet n Wild - Cherry Bomb

I actually would be reaching for this, rather than black. It's a blood-red colour, great for fall and winter, but it's a great replacement for black lipstick.

This lipstick does bleed, so a lip liner is necessary, and it stains skin too. For two dollars, I can easily overlook the cons of this lipstick. It's cheap, and pigmented.

NYX - Chaos

Hello again readers~

I have been wearing this lipstick since I bought it over the past months. I have trouble finding a red lipstick that suits me, because I'm so pale, and a lot of them really washes me out, and does not compliment me at all. So far, this one is my favourite.

Chaos is a cool red, that doesn't look bad against my pasty skin.

Pros:
  • Cheap ($4)
  • Can be ordered online, or bought wherever NYX products are available
  • Suits pale skin
  • Smooth and soft
  • Doesn't dry out lips
Cons:
  • Stains
  • Smears if you don't line your lips
  • If your lips are chapped, it'll enhance that
Overall: 5/5
I love this red! It's smooth, applies well, lasts a while, and looks great.

Funky Fingers - Riot

Hello again readers~

First set of swatches for my new purchases. I need to find a better way to take photos of my nails...

Funky Fingers in Riot

The polish is a bright, cool, neon violet colour. It takes two coats to be opaque, and dries to a rubber finish.

In flash lighting, it appears to be warmer, but indoors, it can appear to be more blue-violet.

I think it's a lot like Checkin' into Rehab by Spoiled, except for the flakies and the formula.

December's Top 5

Hello again readers~

December's Top 5

  1. Clean & Clear: Advantage -  I have to keep my face moisturized in the winter (especially since I get dry flaky skin if I don't!), and this year I have been breaking out because of stress... So I picked up this. It helps with acne, and keeps my face moisturized and soft. I put it on at least 2 a day.
  2. Bath and Body Works HandiBac Anti Bacterial Lotion (Fresh Market Apple) - A antibacterial product, that gets rid of bacteria AND moisturizes since it's a lotion. It's a fantastic product, and works very well.
  3. Bio Straight and Sleek - A smoothing lotion to help with my frizz in the winter. Has a citrus scent and keeps hair looking smooth and silky. Bought from Bath and Body works years ago.
  4. Hello Kitty Lip Balm (Strawberry) - Got a pack of these from Ani, and I reach for them a lot since I bite my  lips often. It's a little goopy and feels like Vaseline, but they smell good, taste good, and really hydrate my lips. She got them from Target.
  5. DG Body Revive Eye Serum - I got this from a classmate, and WOW. Why haven't I tried eye creams before? It says serum, but it's a creamy texture, and moisturizes around my eyes. It doesn't hurt like when I accidentally get my Clean & Clear moisturizers in my eyes. I'll have to look around for another one.
Keep hydrated and moisturized!

First post of 2013~

Hello again readers~

I hope you all had wonderful New Years so far, and wonderful Holidays too!

My break has been so exhausting, but it was nice to be able to see my family and spend a good amount of time with them!

Speaking of family, today my sister and I went out to lunch with my grandmum, and then did some running afterwards together.

We went to the mall where I picked up a few things (Including Friday the 13th with Jared Padalecki yes!), and then we went off to Sally's, and then to another shopping center.

Went to Five Below, though the first time I went, I wasn't too enthused, but I made up my mind to try it again, since I found so many good things about Funky Fingers. I chose these three:

Riot, Mood Ring, and Wild Child.

Though Riot looks a lot more like this:

Then I was able to go to Ulta too! I haven't been to that Ulta yet, so I was excited to be able to look, that aside, I needed new foundation, and they were having a sale.

Ulta Nail polish in Love Fern.

Revlon Colorstay Whipped and Liquid foundations in Ivory.

NYX HD Eyeshadow Base, and Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk.

I'm so giddy, I have so many reviews and swatches to make this year, and I better get to work!

Swatches

Hello again readers~

This is the first of two swatch posts. I have some polishes that I haven't swatched yet, and some that I just bought that I have already swatched. It's a little disorganized.

Wet n Wild 511B Nouveau Pink

I've had these polishes for a while, and I haven't had a chance to take a picture them yet.

Now I have.

(From Left to Right)

Milani Silver: Chunky silver glitter. This was with five coats. It's workable to give you a foil effect, and that's exactly what I was going for.

Spoiled  My Button Fell Off: Light pink creme. Two coats to become opaque.

Spoiled – Permission to Proceed: A sheer, neon-green that gives of a rubber finish. It honestly works better layered over a white, and takes three coats to become opaque. You also need to wrap with this polish.

Sinful Colors – Let's Talk: Violet Chrome, with very small hint of blue shimmer. Shows brush strokes. Two coats for full opacity.

E.L.F.:  A Grey-Green base with green shimmer. This polish smells AWFUL, and on the nail it looks almost black, not dark green like in the bottle. I'm a little upset by the scent, but it's bearable. Two coats.

Funky Fingers – Neon Green Crackle: One coat. I picked this up, because I love goo-green colors for nails (especially layered over black), and was hoping that this would be an opaque crackle (like China Glaze). It's not. It only shows up on lighter colors, and it tints them with an awful yellow. Not a fan, and I'm not even sure of the title since the label fell off.
(Edit: Neon Green Crackle)

Funky Fingers – Teal Scales: One coat. I love this one, a lot. It doesn't stand out over black (because it's so dark) but it looks so much better than the other one. I really wanted it because it looked a lot like OPI's Shatter the Scales, and I couldn't resist.

I did spend a bit of time looking up Funky Fingers online and reviews, and I think next time I go into that store, I'll pick up a few other colours that catch my eye, because though the neon crackle failed me, there are others that look absolutely gorgeous (like Teal Scales).

Now I mentioned that I would be working on taking better photos, so I set up a little back-drop studio area just for my blogging photos. (Still figuring out the best way to photograph clothes!)

The Wicked Halloween collection is one I sort of wanted, but didn't want it enough to shell out the money for it. When I found this on sale for about six dollars, it was worth it enough.

(Left to Right)

China Glaze Ghoulish Glow layered over Sally Hansen Night Fright: I was very excited about this polish, because I can layer it over darker colors, and still have glow-in-the-dark nails. Two coats.

Glitter Goblin: Medium orange and silver-holographic glitter. One coat.

Roguish Red: Red-Orange creme. Two coats.

Bizarre Blurple: Violet base with blue shimmer. Two coats.
