Sally Hansen Sugar Coat - Sour Apple

Hello again readers~

I have a polish to show you! Sally Hansen Sugar Coat in Sour Apple. These polishes have been out for a short while now, and textured polishes are very popular recently. It seems every company is jumping onto the bandwagon, to the delight of many.

Sally Hansen Sugar Coat come in 4 colors at target; Sour Apple (Mint), Razzleberry (Blue), Cotton Candies (Pink), and Bubble Plum (Lilac).

At stores like Meijer, you get a wider variety of colours; Sweetie (Yellow), Lick-O-Rich (Black), Sugar Fix (White), Cherry Drop (Red).

I've even seen a couple of rare ones; Royal Icing (A pale blue with shimmer), and Spare-A-Mint (Teal).

Keep your eyes peeled because you never know what you might find! When I first saw them on the internet, I really wanted Lick-O-Rich, but I decided to try Sour Apple before I went hunting for it.

The polish in the bottles look no different than other polishes, but it's quite a shocker when you start painting!

The polish needs to go on sheer. If the layer is too thick, it takes ages to dry. I made that mistake and had to start over completely.

Something that really gave me problems, was how streaky the application was. I checked other blogs and some of them said they had similar problems, which is a shame. I managed to get it evened out with a total of 2 coats, but I had to work with it a little bit.

The texture on these, aren't fine, they're gritty. I, personally, didn't like this as much as I thought I would.

I only wore this manicure for a few hours, and I had to keep looking down, because I thought I had clay or paint caked onto my nails. It's not something I liked feeling, and I was a little bummed because I was really excited to try this out! It just doesn't work for me.

Pros:
-Layers dry quickly
-Inexpensive, a little over 5 dollars a bottle
-Depending on where you search, a wide variety of colour choices

Cons:
-Anything but the thinnest layers, or you'll be waiting ages to dry
-Super gritty
-I got tip wear, and all I did was type and make rice.

Overall: 2/5
To me, it's not worth it. I wasn't into this polish at all, unfortunately. However, if you're into the texture polishes yourself, this is something I'd highly suggest having in your collection.

Thanks for reading~

  1. thanks for the review, I remember seeing a display at Target and was curious about it. The color shade is really pretty but the texture doesn't look good to me too

    1. I'm not sure what I was thinking, I just like mint! If you like your nails smooth though, a regular mint polish would be better. :)
