Essence - Chic Reloaded

Hello again readers~

I'm going through my photos and I found a little gold mine of pictures I never got around to posting. I need to pick up the slack!

Today I bring you Essence - Chic Reloaded.

Took me forever to post these photos! I mean, I bought this polish back in December and never got around to it...

Chic Reloaded is a duo-chrome in a dark grey base, which a bit of a let down.,,

In the bottle it shows teal, blue, violet, yellow, green, pink... just a rainbow of colours, but on the nail it's not as vibrant. In certain situations it barely shows other than teal, blue, violet and a bit of grey. And in direct sunlight looks like a foil. It's a very interesting polish.

It's opaque in two coats, and it shows brush strokes, which can be overlooked... It did bubble on me a bit in a spot or two, which isn't the worst but it makes the manicure look a bit terrible.

I really prefer it in the shade though...

Other than that I really enjoy this polish, and it was only 2 dollars at Ulta!

Sinful Colors - Nirvana

Hello again readers~

I'm gone for the day so I'll leave you with a quick post of Sinful Colors (Matte) Nirvana.

(Matte) Nirvana is a light brown creme. Contrary to the name, it's NOT matte. Which is a shame, it'd look great as a matte...

There is a regular Nirvana as well, and I picked this one because it was lighter. Here's a comparison at Pointless Cafe here.

I don't have a polish like this, and this is my first brown. I don't really have interest in browns at all, since they don't look that good on me. Matte) Nirvana makes my hands look a little red, but I do like the color.

It applied in two coats and was very easy to control.

Shopping with Sarah

Hello again readers~

I went out to lunch with my sister, my grandmother, and my grandmothers friends. It was really nice to spend some time with them. :) Afterwards, we went to Target and then to the mall for some mega quick shopping.

Forever 21 was a bit of a bust, I don't buy much there anyway, but there was only one small necklace I bought and then these that were on clearance. They're usually 2 dollars each, but they were only 1 dollar! Beige and Dark Green.

I just wanted to mention, that the packaging for Beige is TERRIBLE. It looks really gaudy and definitely like extremely cheap plastic. The gold just picks up fingerprints and looks awful... Bad packaging choice there...

Beige is a good colour that isn't too overwhelming at all. I got it for an all-over-lid colour and am glad it will work for me. Dark Green isn't so much green as a dark teal really. Both have shimmer, but dark green strikes my fancy quite a bit.

Last bit was at Rue 21, I got a few pieces (among which is a fantastic new pair of skinny jeans, that I got for 6 dollars because someone was a jerk and ripped the original tag off of them.  >: ( )

They had these bins in the back FULL of polishes they were getting rid of to make room for new inventory. They were only a dollar each! I didn't notice this originally, but some of them were actually Color Club polishes as well.

Though, NONE OF THEM WERE LABELED! They have labels on the back for the price, with numbers for their colour, but not a name. The names I'm using for these are the ones I got off the receipt...

Left to Right: Black, Navy Blue, Dark Blue, Turquoise, Jazz Hands, Portfolio.

All of them applied in two coats.

Black: Standard black cream. Dries in a satin finish. Nothing to rave about.
Navy Blue: FINALLY. A lot of navy blues I find have shimmer or glitter. This is a navy blue jelly. Love it!
Dark Blue: A blue creme.

Turquoise: A bright turquoise creme that was the best behaved of all of the polishes. Applied like a dream, and was almost a one-coater.
Jazz Hands: A berry-wine creme polish.
Portfolio: A violet-green duo-chrome polish. This applied well, but shows off brushstrokes.

I was a little impressed, and a little underwhelmed at the same time! Some of the swatches are gorgeous, and some are just so-so.

Wet n Wild Juicy Lip Balm Raspberry Review

Hello again readers~

Just going to do a quick review on Wet n Wild's Juicy Lip Balm in Raspberry.

I picked this up during one of the 'buy one get one free' promotions Walgreens had a while back, along with a palette that I had my eye on. I saw that they were hosted in Seventeen magazine, and I wanted to try it out myself. I haven't really heard many raves about it, but  why not try it?

I was pleasantly impressed with how much product you got. You don't need very much to coat your lips, and with how big it is, it's quite a lot! It also smelled wonderful.

I used this for a few days, just to get a proper feel for it, and well... I wasn't too wild about it. I do like how it's mildy moisturizing, and it's also a tinted balm! It gives a nice little burst of colour to the lips, and also has SPF 15 to protect them as well. For summer? These are pretty great.

One of my biggest problems with this, is that it didn't last very long. I put it on, and within an hour, it was gone! The colour also moves a little bit with wear. On top of that, I wasn't wild about the taste, and it didn't leave my lips feeling moisturized at all... In fact, it left them feeling dryer than before I put it on! Also, with the smell, at first it smells great, but if you smell too hard, it smells a bit like balmy plastic. Not the best...

Pros:
- SPF 15
- Tinted
- Good for summer
- Smells good (at first)

Cons:
- Smell is incredibly fake and gets on my nerves after a while
- Doesn't last. I have to keep reapplying
- Doesn't do it for me with moisturizing
- Doesn't taste good
- It's a lot larger than regular balms. Not the easiest to take with you.

Overall: 2/5

If I'm going to be outside for a little, and I want the benefit of  SPF with the added bonus of a tint,  I'd reach for this. I couldn't ever see me taking it with me everywhere, and would rather just throw it in with a beach bag or something similar. If your lips are generally moisturized, this would work better for you than it did me.

You can find them at any drugstore that sells Wet n Wild products such as Walgreens. They retail for $2.99, and also come in Strawberry, Watermelon, and Cherry.

New Sinful Colors Launches

Hello again readers~

It seems Sinful Colors just keeps releasing more and more polishes, to the joy (or misery) of those who collect them.

Sinful Shine is their launch of  'Gel Tech' polishes, which are a dollar more expensive. Most of these colours can be duped in the permanent line, but some are rare and might just be worth grabbing a few. (I know I picked up four myself).

I'm really interested on how well these last up, and if they even need a top coat at all.

I picked up four of them, Alfresco, Amazonian, Steel Reserve and Dark Room.

Alfresco - Light Blue with shimmer. A little thick, but evened out with two coats.
Amazonian - dark emerald green with shimmer.  Sheer at first, builds up in two coats. Fantastic formula. My favourite of the four.
Steel Reserve - darkened blue-grey cream. An almost dupe for China Glaze - Concrete Catwalk, but darker. A little thick, but evened out with two coats.
Dark Room - Black Cream. Two coats, great formula. Couldn't pass it up.

And another collection! At first I mistook it for the Almost Famous collection, and I'm really glad I went back. Diamond Dust has a new type of glitter polish, that I'm absolutely blown away by. DIAMOND shaped glitter.

Kind of obvious now with the name, but it's not something too often done. I wasn't too eager to pick up any of the coloured ones, but I picked up Crystal Clear which is a silver holo.

I regret photographing on a white backdrop today, since it doesn't bring out the colours as well as a darker backdrop... next time I shoot I'll go back to black, because it was a hassle trying to get colours to show true. :(

Out and About

Hello again readers~

I'm pretty proud of myself, usually I'm quite the hermit but I've recently branched out to try to be social. It's a little hard, but this will  help me in the long run. It's not healthy to avoid people. :)

Anyway, Monday I got all dressed up, with no place to be. I went on campus to take some photos and develop my film for my final Photography assignment, and I did some work in my Digital Imaging class too. I was going to leave early, but I ended up texting my friend Catherine on whim to meet up for lunch, and we met up.

We went to Easy's, which is this wonderful Chinese buffet that's really cheap near campus, and then went on a quest for a Tropical Sno stand that may or may not actually exist. It was a failure, so we went to Peachy's for frozen yogurt.

It was really delicious, and also really cheap too!

Top: Rue 21
Necklace: Forever 21

I wore red skinny jeans from Rue 21 and a pair of my thrifted boots, but I wasn't up for a full body picture that day.

It was also quite a lot of makeup too, and I haven't done that in a while. It felt amazing to do something so wild again. The red really made my eyes pop!

To wrap up, I had to file down my nails... I've been unkind to them and a couple of them broke, so I wanted to get them all healthy again. Boo. Oh well, they'll be back to normal in a couple of weeks.
