L.A.Girl Glazed Lip Paints

Hello again readers!

So I picked these beauties up a while ago, and I finally wore them all enough to review! Also, how excited are you that they're launching new ones? There are going to be 12 new Lip Paints and I'm so excited, I'm going to have to try to control myself and buy the ones I know I'll wear... Or buy them all, who knows!

Currently, there are 6. They come in these squeeze tubes. I was really surprised with how cheap these were: 3 dollars a piece! What?! Super affordable, and they give you a nice selection for this initial launch.

The applicator is a little bit of a failure though. It's like a traditional clear gloss, which doesn't work well for these. The applicator doesn't give an even application, and it smears the colour around making it harder to get fully opaque. Luckily, unless someone is right up against your lips it isn't impossible to get an acceptable look, but it does take some work. It's easier to just apply with a lip brush, so in that sense they are a lot like the OCC Lip Tars where you need to apply with a lip brush to get proper opacity.

However they are all really interesting. The formula is slick, like a gloss, but really opaque. The shine goes away after a couple of hours, but the colour lasts even longer, and doesn't fade in odd patches. I was really impressed with the long colour payoff that I got from these, and was just loving it. They wear as long as you keep them on your lips, but be careful because these transfer onto anything that touches them: hair, skin, clothing, cups/straws, etc. Just be wary with these.

They all have a smell of peppermint, and they give a slight sting to your lips, but take it from me as someone who doesn't like that feeling, that they are not irritating and that feeling goes away shortly.

Hot Mess is a warm-toned orange. Definitely attention grabbing, but not too over-the-top either. It's a statement colour, but it isn't neon, so you can get away with using this for everyday. The coverage is good, and this is one of the easier ones to work with, but it needs a little extra love on the edges.

Pinup is the hardest out of all of them to work with, which isn't surprising with a red. This was one that I ended up wanting to toss at a wall because once it touched skin, it wanted to stain it. I ended up just drawing a line of lipliner around my lips so now they just look ridiculous. Plus, no matter how many times I went over it I never got it even.

Babydoll is my surprising favourite of the bunch, being a cool-toned bright pink. The colour is vibrant, and eye-catching, and it wears well. It's one of the easier ones to apply, and didn't give me too many issues.

Bombshell is a bright fuchsia pink. Not hard to work with, and gives really great colour payoff. It's not a colour that's completely unique, but it's a shade I'd suggest you picking up if you like pink.

Blushing a rose mauve. It is the second hardest to work with. It just wanted to go all over the place, and then it was hard to build up enough product to cover my lips properly. It traveled a bit.

Coy was the one I wanted if I could only find one, and it was quickly one of my favourites. It's a cool violet and just... Wonderful. If you have to get any of these, buy this one, because the colour is just stunning. The colour wears so well, and even if you don't apply it perfectly no one can notice. It's just a wonderful colour that's flattering on many.

 Thanks for buying!

July Favorites

Hello again readers!

To start off, here is a not-so-favorite: I got my wisdom teeth taken out! It wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but even days later I'm still sore. Plus the medications really make me tired, but that just means I get to rest up so it can heal faster! I've been so exhausted and just laying around and sleeping a lot, but it's getting better.

I think changing from Top 5 to Top 10 really lets more products shine, so I'm glad I decided to do so. It was difficult reducing my list to just five, so this is a really great way to show off more products that are just lovely.

July Top 10

Elf Studio Blush - Fuchsia Fusion:
I have been adoring this blusher, it's a beautiful cool-toned fuchsia with shimmer. I love the blushes in general, but I have found a new love for the ones with lots of shimmer (see also Twinkle Pink!), because they give me colour but they also add some glow, meaning I can skip-out on highlighter and makes them perfect for the summer.

Physicians Formula Healthy Wear SPF 50 Powder Foundation - Translucent Light:
So far, this has been my favourite powder foundation. It's light-weight, covers decently well, is my perfect shade, isn't too powdery, and the best part: has SPF 50! I've hit pan already, and unfortunately I can't buy this anymore... I'll miss it when it's gone, but that gives me a chance to start looking for my next favourite powder foundation.

Aeropostale Promise Me Perfume:
This was my favourite perfume in high school, and it's still one of my favourite fragrances to wear. It reacts well to my body chemistry, smells great all day, and is just a scent I will never grow tired of. I miss their old packaging though... but this one is okay. A quick spray and I'm ready to take on the day!

Wet n Wild ColorIcon Bronzer - Ticket to Brazil:
Since it's summer, I really like pushing away from the whole 'I look like a corpse' feeling that I get. Indulging in blusher helps, but so does looking like I actually step out of the house sometimes. I just love this bronzer. It has SPF 15, it's got a light shimmer so it glows, and it adds some (let's admit it) much needed colour to my face. I bought the darker one, and I apply it with a light hand, and if I'm feeling it, I'll use it as a contour too. (Even though shimmery bronzers are the worst for contouring IMO).

Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture SPF 15:
I just picked  this up because it was 50 cents at Target, and I gotta say I'm really enjoying it so far. It's a gentle moisturizer, that doesn't over saturate my face with moisture, but just the right amount. I apply it in the mornings after I wash my face, and it's been helping with the odd dry skin I've been getting. Plus, since it has SPF 15, it's great to wear under the foundations that don't have any, so I can keep my face protected!

Milani Infinite Liquid Eyeliner - Everlast:
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: One of my favourite eyeliners of all time. It goes on great, wings out easily, and lasts all day. It takes some elbow grease to even remove, so it always passes in my book.

NYX Eyebrow Gel - Blonde:
These came out this summer, and I gotta say I already love them! I have Blonde, and I have Brunette, because they are ashy tones and they are great. Gotta apply them quickly because once they set, they SET and they don't move for the rest of the day. Still working on how to apply these perfectly, but I'm loving the challenge as much as I'm enjoying the product.

Hard Candy Baked Bronzer - Tiki:
The only highlighter I own, and for a good reason. This is sold as a bronzer, but it is a gorgeous highlight. Yellow-gold tones that add the right touch to the cheekbones and any other points on my face I want to bring out. A tap to the product and it applies beautifully, and I've used this so many times and not even a dent in the product. So worth the money, and so worth it's place in this month's top 10.

NYX HD Eye Shadow Base:
I forgot how much I used to like this, but I found it when I was re-organizing my makeup and started using it again. i'll have to put up a comparison of primers, but this is one of the best ones that I own. It applies so easily, and holds onto the pigment of your eye makeup so they last throughout the day. I really put it to the test when I worked for 16 hours, and my makeup still looked next to perfect at the end of it, even if I got drenched four times and ran around in the rain!

L.A.Girl Glaze Lip Paint - Babydoll:
Last one, and a real underdog. The product is FANTASTIC and I have just enjoyed all of them, but this isn't usually a colour I go for Babydoll is a cool-toned hot Barbie pink, but it just looks so good on. A real eye-catcher that I have been reaching for in the past couple of weeks since I got it. Love love love it!

Sephora Birthday Reward - Make Up For Ever

Hello again readers!

I was going to post this the other day, but I really wanted to wait until today to post this. This year for your birthday gift, Sephora gave out this box with a sample of the Make Up For Ever's Smoky Extravagant Mascara and Rouge Artist Natural Lipstick in N9 Copper Pink.

They say that these are deluxe samples, even if they look really tiny. They're great for traveling, however.

First off, I hated the mascara with a passion. It has a Christmas tree-shaped wand, which in theory is supposed to coat the little lashes in the inner corner, but elongating the outer lashes dramatically I find it hard to apply to my left eye, because my right hand is the hand I use to apply my makeup with.

The formula on this mascara was really clumpy. One coat was fine, and any more than that and it was clump city. It looked terrible. I don't know if it was dried out or not, but regardless it was terrible. It wasn't waterproof, and within an hour I had flakes and transfer under my eyes and against my cheeks.

For being so small, this lipstick really did look great packaging wise. I was a little hesitant, because the colour looked to be a really brown-toned red in the tube, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The lipstick turned out to be a dark rose-nude that leans warm, and I loved it! The formula feels creamy, and it wasn't the most pigmented of lipsticks, which worked in it's favour.

I wasn't wild about the mascara, but I really enjoyed the lipstick.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation - 110

Hello again readers!

I'm really trying to buff up my foundation collection. Drug Stores really don't make enough foundations for those who are super pale.

The foundation is decently cheap, only around 5-6 dollars, and it's really easy to find, since you can pick it up at any drugstore.

I like the packaging, just sleek glass with a black cap. It's like a square version of the Revlon Colorstay in terms of packaging, really.

The formula for this foundation is a little runny, so it's really easy to over-distribute product onto your makeup palette or the back of your hand or a tray to apply to your face.

The product goes on really well, giving a light to medium coverage. It doesn't take much at all to get a flawless look, and if you need a little extra, it layers well. The finish is a satin look, not matte, but not dewy either. I however still set it with a powder since I have oily skin, and this product really soaked up that powder like a sponge, keeping it in place.

However, after a few hours, I noticed that it wore off, especially at high-points like my forehead ,my cheeks, my nose, and my chin. Also, around the rest of my cheeks, I could see little dots where the foundation would settle into the pores of my face, which wasn't appealing at all. It also had the added negative that when I wore it, it would cling to all of my dry skin on my face, it was just unfortunate.

Obviously it's not a good match colour wise... I was really expecting it to work, since in the bottle it just looks perfect, but out of the bottle it goes on darker, and then it oxidizes to an orange hue, so it isn't flattering on me at all.

I didn't have the highest expectations, since I've have heard negative things about this product, but sometimes you really just have to try a product to see if it'll work for you or not.

I didn't like it, but what were your experiences with this product?

Ulta Birthday Reward - Calvin Klein One Mascara

Hello again readers!

Nothing like being two weeks late for reviews, huh? Well, one of my favourite sayings is 'better late than never', and I stand by that!

This year, Ulta gave out a full-sized mascara as their birthday reward. I was really shocked, and excited to try out this mascara, because I never tried a CK makeup product before.

Calvin Klein One Mascara

The tube is a little... questionable, but sleek. The monochrome mascara packaging is a ringer, and I'm always instantly in love with the smooth plastic that pops up here and there with packaging, even if it collects makeup like crazy.

The cap looked a little strange, but really, it's an odd but amazing feature, the top of the mascara want twists, so you get TWO different mascara wands in one!

If it is relaxed, you get a brush perfect for separating your lashes and creating length.

If you twist the cap, you get a brush that's great for building up volume fast!

The way I like using this, is either go in with the volume mascara wand, and then go in again with the lengthening wand again to de-clump the lashes, or I just use the lengthening mascara by itself.

The formula is strange, as it clumps really easily, even just using the lengthening mascara. I really had to watch how I applied it so my lashes wouldn't get stuck togther. Another thing that's so strange about this formula, is that mine never seems to want to truly dry, until an hour later, then it just feels brittle.

Since it's not waterproof, it's not a mascara that'd ever be my every day mascara, but I really enjoy using it on the days where I just go out for errands. It's a wonderful gift, so don't forget to get yours!

ELF Disney Snow White Collection - Eye Collection and Lip Collection

Hello again readers!

I'm really happy that they're coming out with more Disney collections from ELF, I just can't get enough! I didn't find any that I wanted from the Ariel collection, but I was instantly drawn by the beautiful packaging of the Snow White collection, as the boxes are just exquisite.

I bought the Lip Collection, and the Eye Collection

The Eye Collection provides you with a 6-pan Eyeshadow Palette, and a black mascara.

I adore the picture of Snow on the front, it adds the right amount of flair for this otherwise bland-looking packaging, though the packaging is still rather sleek and easy to store.

If there is anything that ELF does right in their cheaper palettes, it's their shimmers, and fortunately you get all six of the eyeshadows as a shimmer.

Top Row:
Light Eggshell Yellow Shimmer
Light Sea Green Shimmer
Copper Shimmer

Bottom Row:
Brass Shimmer
Grey-Blue Shimmer
Graphite Shimmer

I was really surprised with the pigmentation that all of them were great, and not just some or most of them. They are so pigmented, and I didn't even use these over primers!

The mascara is just basic. It doesn't do much for your lashes, just adds colour, but it comes with a really beautiful cap decal of SW stamped on it, so if anything it's just pretty to have displayed.

The Lip Collection provides you with a lip stain, a lip gloss, and a balm stain, all in Snow's trademark red.

I was really kind of hesitant to buy this, but the balm tint really sold me on this, since I already know I liked the product. I was really suckered into it because of the designs on the products.

The lip stain is a marker. I reviewed this before here, and I wasn't wild about it. I still don't like it.

The lipgloss was so strange! It smells like chemicals, and peppermint, and it stung my lips. I'm sure it's the peppermint oil in the product, and I'm sure that it's for a lip-plumping effect, but I wasn't happy with it. The application was streaky, and this is a gloss that I'd have to wear over a lipstick in order to get a good enough payment.

Now, I know I love the balm stain, but when I opened this, I saw that it was already sweating! Ugh, not a good start, as that can really open up a whole new can of worms as a breeding ground for bacteria. I didn't put it on my lips, but I did swatch it on my arm since I already swatched the others on my arm...

I wasn't happy with this kit, and I did end up taking it back.
