Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Hello again readers!

Silly that I did a whole comparison post, without featuring all of the primers, right? Today I have the Too Faced Shadow Insurance to show you.

I bought this product a while ago, and at first I really hated it. It was really slick, and I wasn't sure if it'd really hold up to the challenge of keeping my eyeshadows looking good all day. I always hold higher end products to a higher standard than drugstore, for the obvious reasoning that generally they are more expensive. If they cost a lot, I want them to really pack a punch!

I actually bought two of these, but returned one, during last years fall deal at Ulta.

I feel like I need to make a point about this, but the box itself feels really high-end. It's not just cardboard, but it has a soft coating on it that makes it smooth to the touch. I kind of wanted to keep it because of how great it felt, but I don't need to hold onto empty boxes.

The packaging is a tube, with the same design as the box. The cap has a chrome effect. I wish the tube itself felt like the box, but well, we can't have everything. I was really happy with the tube applicator, because tube and doe wands are my favourite, so it was going to be easy for me to apply and hygenic.

Though the product was slick, it was a nice tacky base that really clings to product.

Thought it does make a difference in my eyeshadows, it's still not my favorite eye primer. I haven't found my holy grail, not yet at least, but this isn't it. I wouldn't buy it again, but I'm not going to turn down samples that come with gifts, or gifts with purchases.

Thanks for reading!

  1. Have you tried NARS pro prime? My lids are hella oily. But NARS makes my shadow last allllll day and then some. It's my holy grail.

    2. Makes sense, NARS is expensive as all get out :( Have you considered doing online surveys for cash? That's how I fund my beauty addiction ;) I'd highly recommend swagbucks and opinion outpost!

    3. i'll have to give them a whirl. Usually I just use my b-day/christmas/job money and then just cut back when I run out of money aha

  2. Awesome! If you decide to sign up for swagbucks and would like to help me out, here's my referral link www.swagbucks.com/refer/SoulCascade (no obligation though of course, you can just go to swagbucks and sign up without my referral link if you want). Between the two sites I'm usually able to purchase a few beauty treats a month. I'd be so broke without them :/
